Mollie and the rates

Mollie uses a transparent pricing model where you only pay for successful transactions. Below you will find an overview of the rates per payment method:

Online payments:

  • iDEAL: €0.32 per transaction.
  • Bancontact: €0.39 per transaction.
  • SEPA direct debit: €0.25 per transaction.

For businesses that process more than €50,000 in transactions per month, Mollie offers volume discounts and custom rates. Please contact Mollie's sales team for more information.

Please note that these rates may vary and it is advisable to check the official Mollie rates page for the most up-to-date information.

What happens if a direct debit is unsuccessful due to insufficient funds?

The collection will be automatically re-executed a day later. If it fails again, you can choose to manually resubmit the invoice for collection.

What if a customer has his direct debit reversed?

When a customer has made a payment via SEPA Direct Debit, they have up to 8 weeks after the purchase date to request a chargeback and reverse the payment. Once a customer files a chargeback, it cannot be disputed. The customer's bank reverses the payment and refunds the amount to the customer's account.

What costs are charged for this?

Per chargeback €10,- is charged. Some banks also charge an additional fee of €4,50 for a chargeback or failed transactions.

How can you view chargebacks?

In your Mollie Dashboard you can view all chargebacks by navigating to Transactions > Chargebacks. By clicking on a specific transaction you can view the details and check the reason for the failure to understand why the chargeback occurred.

How can you prevent chargebacks?

It is difficult to completely prevent chargebacks, since a customer does not have to provide a reason when requesting a chargeback. To prevent your customers from filing a chargeback for unknown direct debits, it is advisable to inform them when they will be charged and for which product or service.

Good to know

Your customer can submit a Notification of Unjustified Direct Debit (MOI) if he believes that he has not given authorization for a direct debit.
